DEVELOPING THE SKILL OF EVALUATING THE RELIABILITY OF INFORMATION SOURCES IN TEACHING ENGLISH

The rapid growth of Englishlanguage online content has made the ability to judge whether a source can be trusted an integral part of communicative competence rather than an optional library skill. This article examines how the skill of evaluating the reliability of information sources can be purposefully developed within English language teaching (ELT) at the university level. Drawing on the credibility research of Metzger and Flanagin, the civic online reasoning studies of the Stanford History Education Group, the CRAAP test, and the SIFT approach, the study proposes an inte grated sixdimension model that combines content criteria (authority, accuracy, currency, purpose) with linguistic cues and lateral reading.Ключевые слова
