Аннотация

This article is devoted to a comparative analysis of Uzbek and English toponyms (place names), examining
the reflection of cultural memory and historical transformations embedded in them. It is argued that toponyms are not
merely labels for geographical objects, but represent a form of “living history” that preserves the past, socio-political life,
and national worldview of a people. The study analyzes the etymology of place names in both languages, their changes
and transformations under the influence of historical processes, and their capacity to store cultural codes. Furthermore,
the role of toponyms in shaping national identity and the tendencies of their transformation in the era of globalization are
examined.
