Аннотация

This study explores the cross-cultural foundations of English education through the integration of proverbs from
Uzbekistan and Afghanistan into the English Language Teaching (ELT) process. Proverbs, as concise expressions of cultural
wisdom, reflect the values, traditions, and worldview of a nation. By incorporating Uzbek and Afghan proverbs into
English instruction, educators can enhance learners’ linguistic competence while simultaneously developing intercultural
awareness and communicative skills. The paper examines the pedagogical significance of proverb-based instruction in
vocabulary acquisition, grammar practice, speaking development, and critical thinking. It also analyzes similarities and
differences between Uzbek and Afghan proverbial expressions and their English equivalents, highlighting their role in
fostering comparative cultural understanding. The study argues that integrating culturally relevant materials into English
education not only strengthens language mastery but also promotes respect for cultural diversity and national identity in
the context of globalization
