Аннотация

Derivation and nominalization play a central role in the formation of medical terminology, enabling the systematic
naming of processes, conditions, and clinical procedures. The present study aims to develop a comparative model
of derivational and nominalization mechanisms in English and Uzbek medical terminology. Drawing on data from international
medical classifications, specialized dictionaries, and academic corpora, the study analyzes structural patterns,
functional differences, and semantic transparency in both languages. The findings demonstrate that English exhibits a
highly productive nominalization system based on Greek–Latin affixes, whereas Uzbek relies on a hybrid model combining
borrowed nominal forms with native verbal–nominal constructions. The study highlights typological factors shaping
term formation and proposes principles for terminological standardization in Uzbek medical discourse.
