This article examines evidence-based principles for teaching reading to primary school students. It focuses on
five core instructional approaches: the development of phonemic awareness, systematic phonics instruction, vocabulary
building, read-aloud practices, and balanced literacy experiences. The article presents practical strategies and examples
that help educators design effective and engaging reading programs, supporting all learners in developing strong reading
skills and fostering a lifelong love of literacy
