This article examines the effectiveness of story-based role-play activities in enhancing the speaking skills of primary
school learners. In recent years, communicative approaches in language teaching have emphasized the importance
of meaningful interaction and learner engagement. Story-based role-play provides a dynamic and interactive framework
where students actively participate in language use through storytelling and dramatization. The study outlines the theoretical
foundations of this approach, including sociocultural and communicative language teaching theories, and highlights
its pedagogical benefits for improving fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary retention, and learner motivation. Practical strategies
for classroom implementation are discussed, supported by relevant research findings. The results demonstrate that
story-based role-play activities create a positive learning environment that fosters confident and effective communicators
at the primary level.
